| #2Plaguescarred1Sep 05, 2014 9:34:47 | The staff arcane focus is a specially constructed staff which is not said to be a quaterstaff so check with your DM. |

| #4TimboramaSep 05, 2014 12:44:23 | Agreed with these two. A plain-Jane quarterstaff is NOT an arcane foces. But! An Arcane Focus COULD be a quarterstaff, or could be used like one using Improvised Weapons
It's only a (potential) one-way street. |
| #5JRutterbushSep 05, 2014 14:11:23 | Personally, I would allow you to spend 5g to carve the runes and sigils onto your quarterstaff and make it into a focus as well. But if your DM is a stickler, then I agree that taking the arcane focus and using it as an improvised quarterstaff is the best option. |
| #6Thank_DogSep 05, 2014 15:59:02 | This entire argument is so ridiculous. The rules lawyers being so incredibly pedantic and petty about this are going to be proven wrong, I guarantee it.
Use the arcane focus as a regular quarterstaff. I'm willing to bet that 90% of DM's won't have a problem with it simply because they're not dicks like most of the people arguing these rules. |
