#1 klobbermeister Aug 09, 2014 9:31:21	Pretty much that.  If a rogue can sneak attack using a bow, is the intent that he should be able to sneak attack with, say, a wand of magic missiles?  Or as a multiclassed caster?  I understand RAW states 'ranged weapon'.  I want to understand RAI.

#3 Ashrym Aug 09, 2014 10:01:15	We could sneak attack with spells in the playtest and there was discussion on stacking damage from high level cantrips and sneak attacks where the the devs stated it did look like a bit much, and then sneak attack damage went up since. Now the sneak attack ability specifies a weapon attack instead of just an attack so spells don't qualify even if they make attack rolls.

#5 Ashrym Aug 09, 2014 10:39:51	The OP stated he understands that weapon is RAW.  That's why included discussion on it during playtesting and it was in Mike's tweets that the damage was getting too high with the cantrip stacking and damage bonus for sneak attack.  The intent demonstrated in the changes from the playtest and tweets indicates that the intent is not to use a wand of magic missiles or attack spell.
