| #1ErikSilverbladeFeb 22, 2015 22:01:36 | Looking at the warlock section in the PHB the other day, I noticed that the spell slot levels that they have cap at 5th level while their spell list has 1st through 9th level spells listed. How does this work? |
| #2KalaniFeb 22, 2015 22:09:54 | Warlocks have a class feature called mystic arcanum. This feature allows them to learn (and cast) 4 higher level spells, one each of 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th level. Each of these 4 spells can be cast once each/day (think of them like daily spells). These spells do not use spell slots, and cannot be cast at higher level, but otherwise function as normal spells. Mystic arcanum recharges on a long rest much like non-warlock spell slots.
The reason these spells do not use spell slots is to prevent confusion with their normal warlock spell slots (2-4 5th level spell slots), which recharge on a short rest. |
