Can you be hidden from one creature, yet seen by another ?

Yet another lightfoot halfling question. 

For the purpose of this, lets imagine that all enemies on the drawing have 1 more square of "air"  away from A.

If the Halfling can hide behind an ally (A), from one enemy E2, but others are positioned like  E1 & E3 (just 5 feet further away). 

Rogue options

 

Here R  can hide from E2, but since E1 & E3 can see him, is he still considered hidden from E2 ?

Is there anything in the rules about this, can some enemy tell E2 that there is a hidden Rogue there ?

If so wouldent this greatly disrupt the "sctick" of the lightfoot rogue ?

 Mind you, this has not come up in gameplay, but were just something I thought about while prepping.

I would say, yes he is hidden from E2, but E1 and E3 could certainly tell E2 that he is there, and E2 could use his move to go around A and get him.  Furthermore, if R wants to do any sort of sneak attacking against E2, I would suggest that E2 has cover from A...

I feel that might just be stacking things a bit much against the lightfoots. (On the other hand, I wish that they would redo the entire subclass...)

In this case the halfling is hidden from E2, however, E1 can tell him where the halfling is and E2 can attack that square with disadvantage to hit the halfling. Or just walk around A and attack the halfling as he will no longer be hidden.

 

Short answer, yes, you can be hidden from some creatures and not others.

 

Cover is cover, it goes both ways.

Basic Rules pg 74:

 

A target with half cover has a +2 bonus to AC and 
Dexterity saving throws. A target has half cover if an 
obstacle blocks at least half of its body. The obstacle 
might be a low wall, a large piece of furniture, a narrow 
tree trunk, or a creature, whether that creature is an 
enemy or a friend.
