I'm sorry is the question is confusing, here's my example; I play a ranger 2, cleric 8, which puts my total caster level at 9 giving me access to 5th level spells slots. When I level up as a ranger (ranger 3, cleric 8), I learn a new spell. Can this new spell be a level 5 spell or does it have to a level 1 spell? The information under the multiclassing section makes it seem like this isn't possible, as with almost everything in the PHB it's confusing with contradictory information in different sections. I'd like an official ruling if possible, as I play in AL and I don't want to leave this up to a DM's ruling. |
