| #1DurwanSep 01, 2014 13:29:17 | Hello! So my Dm is usualy right, and im guessing he is this time too but I needed to know
As far as I know there are 3 improvements to better make a hit with a weapon: Increasing your ability modifyer The increasing proficiency bonus Magic weapons that give you +1,+2 etc
But how about casters? They get the 2 first, but not the last one. So while melee people have an easier time hitting their targets, casters dont. Ok so you think saves are good anyways and yes they are, but some spells require attack rolls, how about them?
Fo instans: "Make an melee spell attack " "Make an ranged spell attack"
Both the above attacks would equal a normal melee or ranged attack for any other player with a +1 sword/crossbow. So again im wondering, does casters have anything like this?
And for instance could you add your +1 staff/mace to the to hit on a melee spell attack as a conduit of some sort? |

The phrasing for +1 magic weapons is currently "You have a +1 bonus to the attack rolls and damage rolls you make with this weapon.", which seems to me to be fairly clear they just apply to weapon attacks.
If you have less than 18 INT then the Headband of Intellect (sets your INT as 19) would technically help.
Of course, if you're the DM and want to make it up, then feel free!
e.g
Wand of ZAAAPING! Whilst using this wand as your acane focus you have a +1 bonus to all attack rolls and damage rolls you make with spells that require an attack roll. |

Have to wait for the DMG to come out. |

| #7ElothanSep 01, 2014 15:35:00 | I agree, I do think they are specifically included for that person, as well as reducin the neat for material components for "everyday" spells. Seeing that we have very few magical items at the moment, I would be suprised if the DMG did not have any funky spellcasting foci to play with. |

| #9ElothanSep 02, 2014 2:30:02 | I While we prpbably will see +1,+2 etc, I have a feeling some foci will also be boosting some of the spells and/or damage types as well, like a Holy symbol of whatever that allows you to max out on radiant damage vs undeads x number of times and such. Seems more in line with stuff we already got |
