Polymorph (Turn enemies into ladybugs or other tiny creatures with 1HP each. Confusion (Great Crowd control, for the pixies not maintaining concentration on a polymorph, on creatures who saved VS Polymorph)) Sleep (See Polymorph. 1HP each? Zzzzzzzzz.... Fly (Any pixies not concentrating on one of the above spells? Make the fighters fly so they can reach flying enemies)
8 pixies can wreak a lot of havok on a group of enemy monsters or humanoids. |

That could make the spell terrible, but then summoning pixies makes it too good. I think the way I'd play it is to come up with an approved list of fey and the let the player pick from that when they cast it. |

If he does this once or twice, fine, let him feel like he's badass, but if he does it all the time, the other players will get upset and make him stop. D&D checks and balences itself. You as the DM just make logical decisions based upon the situations that arise. There was a time when I made a character that could bull-rush targets through brick walls, but when I did it for the first time, I could tell that the others in the party felt inadiquite and I had the character budget his brute strength a bit. |

| #7RedwoodElfAug 07, 2015 12:51:27 | I just thought of another issue: If something or someone is polymorphed into a 1HP Mouse, and then affected by sleep (Lasts up to an hour or until taking damage or being deliberately awakened), Do they STAY asleep if the polymorph ends but the sleep spell is maintained (the caster of the polymorph loses concentration and the caster of the sleep doesn't?)
A mixed group of Fey would be even worse, given that you can only give them ONE command per round...my DM isn't even allowing me to say things like "Four of you cast flight on me and my friends, and the rest of you try to polymorph those cultists!"
How is that going to work if you get 2 pixies, 3 Sprites, and 3 blink dogs? One command? You can't say "attack the cultists" because the pixies will hover in place drooling, since they have no attacks as such. If you ask for a couple of fly spells, the REST of the Fey stand their drooling since they have no spells.... |

| #9MechatarrasqueAug 07, 2015 12:55:52 | I think this is pretty situational. By the time you are casting cwb, you should be running into things that have good enough saves (and other special defenses) to cut into the effectiveness of the pixie death squad, and it only gets worse the higher you get. Sure the druid can single handedly make the lives of a squad of hobgoblins miserable, but a lot of 7th level PC's can do that (it just takes longer).
Don't get me wrong, it is magic in the right situation, and the out of combat value is priceless, but I don't think it is the end all and be all of combat spells. |

| #11Awakened_GazeboAug 07, 2015 13:15:00 | You could also turn the whole party into T-rexes if they are lvl 8 with 4 pixies. Thats 136 temporary HP they have to loose before the polymorph ends. those four pixies would then just fly away and do fairy stuff well away from dangerous monsters the next hour. Have the other 4 pixies cast fly on the T-rexes for 10 minutes or have them cast some spell in combat.
And yes, I would prefer that a gentlemans agreement was made in groups where I were to play that no such thing would happen with a lvl four spell.

| #14RedwoodElfAug 07, 2015 13:48:19 | The problem with the T-Rex thing is, Polymorph changes your mental stats to those of a T-rex...so the party may be distracted from their mission by carnivore instincts.
The biggest thing we ever found practical in, say, Pathfinder, was Giant Gorillas. They're smart enough to at least keep their mission in mind (was actually a mild INT boost for our barbarian, interestingly.) |
