Crown of Madness and "Twinned Spell" metamagic

If you cast Crown of Madness with Twinned spell to affect two targets, can you maintain control of both targets with your action, or would one automatically be freed on the next turn?

 

(edit) Similarly, Witch Bolt...would your action zap both targets, or can you only zap one per round?

I could see a DM saying Witch Bolt only applies to 1 target per action, but in order to make it less useless, I'll always say that a Twinned Witch Bolt can zap both targets continuously.
