Damage Resistance

In the case of Barbarian Rage that gives him resistance to slashing damage, does that include halving supplemental damage by other means such as a Paladin using a Divine Smite? PHB 197 states that resistance is applied after "all other modifiers to damage", and gives an example that sort of supports the case for half-everything. But I don't look at the Divine Smite as being a "modifier" to slashing damage, rather, a separate supplement. PHB 85 states that Divine Smite is a radiant damage(which the Barbarian in tis case is NOT resistant to) in addition to the weapon's damage. The same case could be argued for an opponent using a sword that did an extra d6 elemental damage to the Barbarian. Does the Barbarian half only the sword's slashing damage or both the sword AND extra elemental damage?

Example:

Paladin attacks Barbarian with Longsword 2H and has a total attack modifier of 5. He rolls a 5 so he does a total of 10 dmg. He uses a Divine Smite slot and does an additional 8 dmg. Did the Barbarian with resistance slashing take a total of 9 (halving everything) or  13 halving just the slashing damage with attack modifier and taking full damage from the Divine Smite?

Also, let's assume that the Paly had him marked. Does he take an additional d6 or half the d6?

In your example, the barbarian takes 5 points of slashing damage and 8 points of radiant damage for a total of 13 damage.

With hunter's mark, I would rule that the extra 1d6 damage is of the same type as the weapon/ammunition used.  In this case that would be slashing type, so it would be halved.  As with Sneak Attack, Hunter's Mark isn't completely clear on this point -- compare with Hex, which explicitly adds 1d6 of necrotic, or with a War Domain Cleric's divine strike, which explicitly addes 1d8 of "the same type dealt by the weapon".
