DC for Nimble Escape?

Hi,

I have just joined and although searching the forum, I couldn't find an answer to my question. Please forgive me if I am asking something already covered elsewhere.

I am about to run my first adventure as a DM (Mine of Phandelver) and in preparing for it have noticed that the goblins have a bonus action (Nimble Escape). When using the action to Hide during combat, what DC should be used to determine the success of the Stealth check? Would it be a standard easy DC of 10, or should it be a check against the opponent's passive Perception, simulating whether they notice where the creature slips off to?

Clarification would very much be appreciated, thanks.

Wouldn't it be contested against the player's perception?

To my understanding, there is no DC for that. Nimble Escape simply allows the goblin to take a bonus action to disengage or attempt to hide, using the normal rules for such actions (like the prerequisites to hide, Stealth vs. Perception, etc.).

We do the same thing for the PC rogue with cunning action. She moves around the corner coming out of hiding to get LOS on a foe (some of her movement), fires the bow (attack), ducks back around the corner (rest of her movment), and attemps a hide while out of view (cunning action). This is contested by the foes' passive perceptions, unless they spend the time to actively use perception on their turns.

Ok great, I think that clarifies it for me.

Thanks folks!

The hide check is against passive perception the disengage is not a skill check.
