Damage on a miss is a big no-no. Half damage on a failed save is a staple of D&D. In fact, the oddball is the 'no damage on a failed save' default, but that is understandable since cantrips are supposed to be relatively low power. Heck, I'm sure there are some who are still up in arms about cantrips that can actually do damage in the first place |
