#1 Uthrac Sep 12, 2014 10:30:01	Free ... or not?   The index points to the page on interacting with objects ... which doesn't have "drop an item" as a specific option.   If a Fighter draws his bow (object) and fires (action) on his first turn, then on his second turn wants to drop the bow (free? or object?) draw his greatsword (object) and swing (action) ... is this allowed/intended?   It seems by a strict reading of the rules that dropping the bow is an object-action, so also drawing the sword on the same turn uses the regular action of the PC.
#2 Plaguescarred1 Sep 12, 2014 10:57:30	Considering releasing a grappled creature is free and releasing a held object is essentially the same, i'd rule that doing so is also free.     BR74 Grappling: The condition  specifies the things that end it, and you can release the  target whenever you like (no action required).
#3 Timborama Sep 12, 2014 12:57:24	This, I believe, is a "We intentionally left this up to the DM to decide" omission. Unfortunately, they don't make this clear in the PHB. I'm hoping there's a big-ol' list of this in the DMG that says, "Hey, we left these things out or ambiguous so YOU and your table make the final call"   But, since other editions allowed you to drop for free, and this edition allows you to use "no action" to let go of stuff, it's an easy thing to rule on as a DM, for me, even if there's not a specific rule for it!
