If a druid shapeshifts into a creature with high Con, does his Durable feat apply?

I believe so, as doesn't Wild Shape specify that a Druid can use any feats or features of his or her "normal form" if the new form is capable of using them?

Note, however, that if this is the case, it would apply to the animal form's Con score, animal form's hit dice, and animal form's hit points:  When the animal form spends a hit die to regain its (animal form) HP, it regains at least twice its (animal form) Con modifier.

Can beasts spend hit dice to regain HP?

I don't see why they wouldn't be able to spend hit dice.

I'm without my books right now, but I believe in the last couple of months we talked about this on the forums and the working consensus was that a druid can indeed heal after a short rest using its animal form HD.  However, it doesn't impact the "normal" druid's hp or HD, just the "beast form."

But monsters don't have hit dice.  I mean, they have something that is also called hit dice, but it just happens to share the name for historical reasons.  There's nothing in any rules that I'm aware of (I could be wrong about this, for all I know, but I've looked) that suggest that what is called 'hit dice' for monsters has anything to do with resting or healing.  The rules in the monster manual that explain what those hit dice are say that they are used to roll hit points, and that you can save time by just taking the average, also listed, if you don't want to roll.

EDIT:  Rereading the rules for wild shape, I could easily be wrong about this.

I assume that if all Hit Dice were not intended to serve a secondary function of "healing surges", then the terms would still be differentiated like they were in 4e.

The monster rules refer to the PHB/basic rules about hit points, and the hit points rules refer to the "resting" rules about how to heal using Hit Dice.

Therefore I concluded that all Hit Dice can be used for healing, and are regained at the rate of 1/2 total (minimum 1) after a long rest.

I personally don't have a problem with letting a Druid spend Wild Shape Hit Dice to heal the Wild Shape form, nor do I think it's unfair to disallow this.  It only affects the temporary hp total of a class feature that is being refreshed at the same time as the rest- if the druid is going to take a short rest and wants to heal his or her "animal form," they could just as easily use Wild Shape to re-assume that form after a rest for a "full heal."

good points.  I think you are probably right, upon further reflection.
