p. 65 PHB "druids will not wear armor or use shields made of metal"
I have multiclassed my druid to a fighter, which get s proficiency in all armor and shields. Role-playing aside (I will choose not to wear metal armor for this character) does RAW allow me to wear metal armor as a part-druid multiclass? |
| #2AaronOfBarbariaNov 12, 2014 3:11:49 | No, druids will not wear metal armor - it's not a case of can't or don't know how, but one of their way of life as a druid. |

| #4El_CondoroNov 12, 2014 11:11:06 | I was going to play it that way, anyway, but thought I'd ask. I think in another thread the definition of metal armor was decided on being any that had the word 'metal' in its description. Ring mail doesn't have the word 'metal' in its description but I assume the 'heavy rings' would be metal. Basically, I am trying to buff my druid's AC while remaining true to the idea of being a druid! |
| #5OraibiNov 12, 2014 18:05:47 | Ask your DM if you can reflavor metal armor as bone or creature scales or something. |
| #6SorxoresNov 13, 2014 9:38:55 | in 3.x druid had an Ironbark spell, giving wood the same protective property as metal, while still being wood in order to respect the "no metal" rule. Then many special amterial came up, including dragon scale. |
| #7DrycanthNov 13, 2014 10:23:34 | Also look at the DarkSun setting. There is almost no mettal armor in the entire place. It is all non-mettal armor. |
| #8Danny_MontannyNov 13, 2014 13:13:48 | So if you started Druid and went to Fighter at a later level, you will not get heavy armor proficiency. Besides, any DM who says armor typically made from metal absolutely has to be made out of metal is bonkers. If I want my dude to wear armor made from a giant bug, then he should be able to wear giant bug carapace armor. Or plates lashed together from a stegosaurus' bony spine. Or whatever they can come up with. |

Or use actual scales from a monster. |
