So my Fighter has a Sword, Shield, and Spear. He takes the Dueling Style and gains the +2 damage bonuse when wielding the sword or the spear one-handed.  If he is wielding the Spear and throws it, does he get his +2 damage bonus?

I would say no because while it doesn't say you have to use it for melee, and someone could certainly argue melee is just a quality the weapon has, look at Archery fighting style. One would have to argue stabbing with a dagger gets +2 to hit from archery if they also wanted to argue Dueling added to a thrown weapon's damage.

So the attack I make when throwing my dagger is a melee attack then?

If you throw a dagger, you are no longer "wielding a melee weapon in one hand" since you threw it.

Also, I seem to remember there being a thread or discussion involving melee weapons being thrown counting as ranged weapons for some reason or other.

As throwing weapon style is bad as it is, it needs all the help it can get
