#1 Skanvak May 16, 2015 4:30:56	I have read and search the forum about the Dueling fighting style and have not find my answer.   What I understand from the forum discution is :   You can use a 1H meless weapon + shield or other non weapon item and get the dueling bonus.   But I have a problem with versatile weapon and the whole concept of dueling.   What happen if a fighter with the Dueling figthing style and a free hand use a versatile weapon (like a longsword). Does he get the benefit of dueling if he used it with both hand? After all he has a weapon in one hand and no other weapon in the other hands (he has the very same weapon in the other hand).   I do find logical to have the +2 for versatile weapon, but it would then be logical to have it for two-handed melee weapon too which will make the Great-weapon fighting style useless.   I would love an official answer.
#2 Razintarr May 16, 2015 5:14:59	You have the damage bonus as long as you qualify for the style.   If you wield the versatile weapon onehanded, you qualify. If you start using it with both hands, than you're not wielding it with one hand anymore and you don't qualift for the style.   Not different then switching from a one-handed to a two-handed weapon.

#4 Illithidbix May 17, 2015 12:06:26	DUELING When you are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon.   GREAT WEAPON FIGHTING When you roll a 1 or 2 on a damage die for an attack you make with a melee weapon that you are wielding with two hands, you can reroll the die and must use the new roll, even if the new roll is a 1 or a 2. The weapon must have the two-handed or versatile property for you to gain this benefit.
