Start a character in any class that gets Extra Attack, and pursue it to that level.  Now multiclass into Fighter and pursue that until you get Extra Attack.

1) If you stay a Fighter, do you get to triple your attacks, or double your attacks?

2) If you take levels in some other class, do you then get to triple your attacks, or double your attacks?

Thanks.

Multi-attack from multiple classes does not stack.

You need to be fighter 11 to get 3 attacks.

already taken care of in the actual wording of the rules

It says you can attack twice or three times ... not an extra attack.

Also the note on bonus acitons is that you can only ever take one if you have more that one you are entitled to you must pick which one to use.

in this way the game is quite well worded to prevent any of these extra attack "cheats".

It's on page 164. under... Extra Attack surprisingly enough.

If you gain the Extra Attack class feature from more than one class, the features don't add togeather. You  can't make more than two attacks with this feature unless it says you do (as the fighter's version of Extra attack does.). Similarly, the warlock's eldritch invocation Thirsting Blade, doesn't give you additional attacks if you also have Extra attack.
