#1 Thank_Dog Sep 18, 2014 2:39:53	I'm a little confused about the Charlatan's background feature. It seems to replicate the ability of the forgery kit and given that you're also proficient in it, seems to make it entirely redundant. In addition, if you swap out the proficiency for something else, can you still even use it? And if so, how? Is it simply automatically successful or do you have to roll an ability check? If so, then do you get your proficiency bonus with it seeing as you don't have proficiency in the forgery kit? And if not, then again, what's the point of the feature?
#2 Timborama Sep 18, 2014 5:39:48	As a DM I think I'd rule they can make these forges without a check. But it has to be contested against something, so maybe you can allow them to "take 10" on it, as it were.   I agree that last part is pretty weird, considering that's what a forgery kit is for. The implication is that it's giving you a special mechanic and not just fluff, but that mechanic is already covered in forgery kits. Hmmm...   Maybe this allows you to not need to make an Intelligence check to recall what the handwriting, signature, and/or writing style was like?
