#1 AncientManBeast Dec 10, 2014 0:00:51	Hello all, Very new to pnps and had a quick question involving the warlock familiars, namely the Imp and the Quasit. They both have the 'Shapechanger' feature;  Shapechanger. The quasit can use its action to polymorph into a beast form that resembles a bat (speed 10ft. fly 40ft.), a centipede (40ft., climb 40ft.), or a toad (40ft., swim 40ft.), or back into its true form . Its statistics are the same in each form, except for the speed changes noted. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed . It reverts to its true form if it dies.   By statistics I assume it keeps all attribute scores, skills, traits etc. [including devils sight, magic resistance but not speed], but do they gain any traits from their new forms? I.e. changing into a bat and gaining blindsight?   Thanks!
#2 cowleymen Dec 10, 2014 4:18:16	true sight is blindsight. But no they dont. True sight is the be all, end all of sight. You can see in darkness, magical or not; like it was as bright as day, you can see invisible creatures, you percive through illusions(though you still see illusions ontop of what ever they where cast on, like double image). Only thing that changes when these creatures change are their speeds.

If sharing senses [and thus utilizing devil's sight] , can I still attack, move and take actions normally as long as my familiar can see where i am and where i'm going? 2. If not sharing senses, can the imp telepathically tell me where enemies are if there is magical darkness or if i have no darkvision, thus negating the disadvantage on attack rolls? Is this only the case if the variant 'imp familiar' is being implemented?
#4 cowleymen Dec 10, 2014 11:24:33	Those are very interesting.    1) No. It is my understanding that sharing senses is an Action. While action in the find familiar spell is not captilaze, I feel that RAI that in combat it would be your whole Action. That still leaves bonus and move actions, and reaction, but its your Action to see through your familiar, like a spell. My advice is to instead ready a spell, and have your familiar deliever it for you   2) This one seems to be closer to DM fiat. I dont think I would get rid of the disadvantage, but when your attacking a target and you cant see, you also make the role at a penalty of -5? -10? Dont remember off the top of my head. I would lessen that to what light cover/obscurment, a -2 with disadvantage. Or do it the other way, attack with out disadvantage, but at the full penalty. I nneed to read up on the rules. In groups that i have been with in 5e we either have enough people with darkvision that its not a problem, or enough people need light that we say screw it and just light up the torches or light cantrip

A telepathic bond does not mean that its a highway of information that neither can turn off. Its more like that they can commincate via that method if they want too. They are not experincing a mind meld of some kind.
