| #1prestokeysOct 13, 2014 12:31:47 | Suppose a multiclass reaches 4th, 8th, 12th, etc... levels (where his level is the sum of his individual class levels), is this when he can choose the ability score improvement or add an extra feat instead? Or does that rule apply when his class components reach those levels? For example he is fighter 5/ wizard 3 and then levels up as fighter 5/wizard 4. His wizard class has reached level 4, so does he choose an ability score improvement or extra feat now? This is not explained in the multiclass section of the player's handbook 5th edition.
Still writing a computer program for the 5th edition (and will be for quite a while to come). |

So a monk 3/bard 3/fighter 3/paladin 3/rogue 3/wizard 3/sorcerer 2 would have no feats.
Note too that the fighter get's extra ones. |

| (Reply to #6)prestokeys | Still not finished yet. Let's say a fighter 3/wizard 3 levels up as a fighter 4/wizard 3. His fighter class chooses to gain +2 in constitution and now has constitution 18. His hit points gain will thus get +4 bonus. Then he levels up again as a fighter 4/wizard 3/cleric 1. Does his hit points gain still get +4 bonus? Or does it get only +3 bonus because the constitution for the cleric is 16 because his cleric never gained any constitution increase? If +4 bonus, then his wizard levelling up to wizard 4 can then add +2 in constitution again, and the constitution will be 20 and get +5 bonus, right? |

| #10DracoSuaveOct 13, 2014 15:48:16 | Increasing your ability scores is a Class Feature, and is not an inherent part of gaining levels, like gaining hd and proficiency bonus are. A theoretical class could exist that has no attribute gains whatsoever. A not-so theoretical class exists that has an increased rate of attribute gains. |

| #12TimboramaOct 14, 2014 6:35:27 | OP: Character Level=total level of all classes combined. Class Level=total level in that class only.
So a Warlock 3/Sorcerer 12 is a level 12 Sorcerer and also a level 3 warlock. But his CHARACTER level is 15.
Those will clear up any confusion, as CON bonus applies to character level, as does proficiency bonus (so in the example, the CHARACTER is level 15 in regards to proficiency and CON bonus to HP). Feats/ABIs apply to Class level (so he only has feats/ABIs for Sorcerer, but none from Warlock). |
