Hi all, can non-casters, via a scroll for example, cast find familiar and acquire one? Thanks.

1) As stated, take the Magic Initiate feat.
2) Take the Ritual Caster feat. This is probably your best option, since it gives quite a lot.
3) Take the Urchin background which grants a trained pet mouse. Or you can spend downtime and make Handle Animal checks to train an animal yourself. This only gets you halfway though as you will need a way to read its mind or understand it.
4) Wait for the DMG. It will likely include figurines of wondrous power.
5) Sell your soul. You can probably RP a deal with a devil for an imp. |

That would require DM permission and whatever else he asks like maybe a mission or significant roleplaying or some sort of deal. |
| #5solomaniNov 12, 2014 23:09:58 | Thanks both. The reason it came up was my daughter picked the Urchin background and wants her mouse to be more than a mouse but her character is a rogue. I will suggest the Ritual Caster Feat since that has a lot of other utility as well. |
