Find Steed and Other Spells

So, FInd Steed has a bizarre feature that lets you target yourself and your steed with spells.  Has anyone else seen any weird combo's off this?

 

To me, the first thing that comes to mind is Shape Change.  The target is you, but unlike True Polymorph, the language all says, "Challenge Rating Equal to YOUR LEVEL" instead of "Equal to or less than THE TARGET's."   Which I'm pretty sure means, if you cast Find Steed from a Ring of Spell Storing, you can then turn yourself and the mount into 17 CR creatures.  Not too shabby.

 

Anyone else see any such weirdness?

You also refers to the horse, in this instance (in this DM's opinion). Now, will your DM let you pick two different forms is the question!

I think the distinction between the spell Ranges of Touch and Self is important. Touch spells can target the caster; while Self spell affect only the caster. Spells with a Range of Self don't target anything.
