A Fighter in my game is playing now with a Flame Tongue Sword. In it's turn he makes 3 attacks. I want to ask if the 2d6 extra dice must be rolled for every attack or just once for target! Thanks for answers :D

Every time the weapon hits, you add 2d6 fire damage.

So if exist the Flame Tongue, why someone must take something else like the Vicious Weapon?

Unfortunately it came out in the last adventure hidden in a dragon's lair. However, how the attunement work properly? He must just make a rest and touch it for become attuned with it?

Yes, it only takes handling the item during a short rest (which can't be the same short rest as the one spent identifying the item, if that was how it was discovered that the weapon was flame tongue).

The important part of attunement is the limit to only being able to attune to 3 items at one time - that's what keeps the character from become unreasonably potent because of magic items.

Basic DMG page 58 talks about attunement.  But yes, just a short rest while focusing on it is the only requirement.

Some things to remember.

  • A PC can only have 3 attuned items at any time.
  • A flame tongue is a great weapon, but unlike a +1 magic sword it doesn't give a bonus to hit (nor the +1 damage), just the extra fire damage on a hit.
  • Some creatures are immune to fire, so the flame tongue is no better than a regular sword against a hell hound or a red dragon.
