Flaming scimitar vs flaming short sword does it matter?

The numbers for a scimitar and a short sword are nearly the same, would you allow a druids flame blade spell PHB PG242 to count as a monk weapon for the purpose of martial arts?

Flame blade is not a weapon. It's a touch spell.

but i might allow it anyways, cause why not.

That flame blade is a spell rather than a weapon isn't the important factor - it's that you are using an action for the spell effect, as the spell says to do, rather than using the Attack action which martial arts (and flurry of blows) specifically key off of.

I agree with rule of cool. If damage isnt off the charts for it, and some one wants to spend the time multiclassing, I say go ahead.
