| #1MinisterKohobiNov 04, 2014 22:23:11 | If I successfully grapple a target in the first round and maintain it until my turn in round two, would I have to roll a melee spell attack to apply shocking grasp? The roll is to see if I am able to touch the target to deliver the effects of the spell, thats why you get advantage if they are wearing metal armor. Well, I've kind of already won the roll to see if I am touching them, cuz I have the target grappled. So I should just be able to zoogie them at my leisure. I should also be emperor of the world, but the rest of humanity disagrees with me on that point too. What do you think?
Thanks, MK |

If you fail to land the attack at the appropriate time, the spell fails (there is a limited window of opportunity, after which the spell fizzles if you haven't yet connected). So yes, you need to make the attack roll. |
