Homunculus Poison effects?

It states that if a character is stuck by a homunculus bite, that they take 1 point of piercing damage and are poisoned, yet it does not state what effects the poison has on the character. Is this description incomplete, or am I just missing something? Thanks!

PHB pg 292:

"A poisoned creature has disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks"
