I'm playing a low level Bard in a new game and the finer workings of illusion as ruled by our DM have seemed a bit inconsistent to me. I'd like to get some feedback before I talk to my DM further about it.
I'll lay out the rules and what I see as the various reasonable interpretations of it and then describe some situations that have come up in the game and how our GM has resolved them.
Please chime in if you see other interpretations, if I've missed something, or even if you just want to add fun ideas for others to use.

Here are the rule threads I was able to find on the topic:

Here's a basic primer on how illusion magic works.

I think it's important to not just tell your DM *what* you do, but tell him what your *intention* is when you cast a spell. As an illusionist, your character should know whether your intent is actually possible to accomplish, and the DM can relate this information to you.

Unfortunately this is quite ad hoc, so I'd recommend running a few of your above scenarios past your DM.
