| #1NyteWalkerAug 26, 2014 10:45:03 | I've been having a lot of discussion with my group on Inspiration. ANd, from what I've been able to find online, it seems to me that most people feel that players can give their inspriation to another player at any time. But, that isn't how i read it at all.

| #2CorwynnMaelstromAug 26, 2014 15:41:35 | In play on WotC's livestream it's considered freely tradeable (in essence it's being used to just grant advantage when the player with inspiration wants it to be use, and for who they want it to be used by) and in an RP sense is merely some kind of encouragement from the inspired player to the player who needs the advantage.
I'd say that given the DM controls the flow of inspiration, offering it up as-is with no "then you must qualify in this way if you wish to hand it off" is probably better. After all, they already know what they need to do to get inspiration. That seems sufficient. Adding in more requirements just serves to encourage even more metagaming. ("I want to use inspiration, so I'm going to recite a sonnet I've memorized as I move and attack.") And more table disagreements. ("What do you mean I can't use the inspiration. I'm a bard. I recited a sonnet in combat. Screw you, DM, I'm going home.")
In my games I'd much rather have a player shout out "go for the eyes..." and lend inspiration than have the player who wants it have to craft some RP reason on the spot while we're actually just waiting for them to resolve their attack/skill roll... |
| #3NyteWalkerAug 26, 2014 18:09:34 | Ok, yeah. That's kind of what I've been hearing from the group. I guess if I ever experiment with alternatives to inspriation I'll worry about abuse control. As is, I'm fine with that explaination. |
