#1 ScuroNotte Dec 18, 2014 22:14:16	i was thinking of doing a cleric/sorcerer or a bard/sorcerer combo. Now both are Spell casters. Now in the descriptions for spell casting and gaining spells, it says the spells must be of a level that you have slots for.    So!!! I start as a Sorcerer 10 let's say. Then delve into Bard. At first level I have 4 known spells. My available spell slots are levels 1 through 5.  Does that mean I can select 5th level Bard Spell?  Those are my available spell slots.    So if I wait til sorcerer 17th to Take a Bard level, do I get the the spell Foresight that everyone on the boards want to Metamagic twin? Or if I choose Cleric and Twin Conjure Celestial.
#2 Coredump00 Dec 18, 2014 22:52:19	As a quick answer... no it doesn't work that way. If I have time I will track down the rule citations, or someone else will chime in.   At first level, you can only learn those 1st level spells.  If it can be 'upcast', (magic missile, etc.) you could use a 5th level slot when casting it.

When you multiclass between spellcasting classes, you combine the two classes to determine your daily spell slot allotment, but you learn and prepare spells for each class as if you were a single-class character. So a Wizard5/Sorcerer5 can only learn and prepare 3rd level spells and lower, but can cast those spells in his 4th and 5th level slots.   This rule is implied in the description for each class' Spellcasting feature, where it says "as shown on the [class] chart" when it talks about preparing/learning spells, and it's explicitly stated in the rules for multiclassing spellcasters.
#4 ScuroNotte Dec 19, 2014 4:13:00	Also saw that phrase of "as the chart", but thought it referred to spell slots per level. Mired and interpreted. Thought I found a loophole. Thats why I asked.  Thanks for clarification.
