The bard's Jack of All Trades class feature states that you can add half your proficiency bous, rounded down, to any ability check you make that doesn't already include the proficiency bonus.

 

I'm sure this includes all skill checks, but does this also include saving throws?

 No, saving throws are not ability checks. It doesn't allow you to  use it on attack rolls either. But since grappling requires an ability check, it works with that. It also works with initiative, which is a dexterity check.

Right, there's 3 things:  Saving throws, Ability checks, attack rolls.

 

So it doesn't apply to saving throws, but it does apply to initiative for example because that's an ability check.
