Lycanthropy and Periapt of Health

Can the Periapt of Health (DMG 184) prevent/stop lycanthropy? The latter is written as a curse rather than disease, so I reckon that the item cannot prevent it, can it?

I would agre ewith your interpretation. The periapt would not change someone cursed with alignment change or gender change, so why woul dit affect lycanthropy?

I also agree. The item works on diseases, but not on curses like lycanthropy, regardless of how superficially similar it might seem (due to being passed along by a bite).

Thanks everyone. Here comes a little side quest for my players to seek help to remove the lycanthropy.
