I have a Dex based multiclass melee character that I'm getting pretty good AC with, with a feat in Magic Initiate to cast mage armor
Example: Mage Armor =13 +5(Dex) +3(Con) +2 (Haste or Shield of Faith) = 23 |

Mage Armor: [Your] base AC becomes 13 + dex.
Unarmored Defense(barbarian): Your base AC is 10+dex. (because this is the base AC of all characters) Using your class feature, your armor class equals 10 + dex mod + con mod
So this leaves a barbarian character affected by Mage Armor with the following: Your base AC is 13+dex. Using your class feature, your armor class equals 10 + dex mod + con mod. |
