| #1BedlamBladeOct 06, 2014 9:25:59 | I am (finally!) playing an illusionist, and in reading through the book, I believe I've found my mid level default illusion maneuver, so I wanted to run it by the community groupthink. In case I've missed out a nuance or potential other bonus/drawback.
1 - Major Image cast in a 6th level slot lasts until dispelled. 2 - As an action, you can move the illusion created to any other poin within (120 foot) range. 3 - Illusion specialists can alter an illusion with an action within the parameters of the spell. 4 - Spell effects, once cast, are not necessarily limited by listed spell ranges.
So it seems to me that an illusionist of sufficient level can always have a Major Image spell up and running at hand, moving it along with her as he travels. Obviously, there are cases the illusion might get left behind or otherwise lost (kidnapping, teleportation, etc.), but generally, it would be there.
Have I missed anything obvious? Doesn't seem overpowered or ridiculous to me, but in case I have?
Alternately, am I missing any fun refinements to this?
Cheers! |

Also, you'll be sorta slower, potentially, because your DM may say you are using your action to move your Image, and not using the Dash action.
But a horse or a lenient DM bypass this outside of combat. So you're probably fine.
Just remember, just because it looks/smells/sounds real, doesn't mean it feels real |
