#1 cowleymen Dec 12, 2014 13:12:05	Is it just me, or is it a little weird that Concentration checks are based off an attribute that has very very little to deal with anything else in your class? Its always been a little thing that gives me a bit of a tick. So, this is a house rule I usually use, is that a Concentration save is based off your spellcasting save. I also change the DC for Concentration rolls. The are 12+spell level. Thoughts? I want to keep Concentration rolls to still have a decent chance of faliure through out a casters carer
#2 AaronOfBarbaria Dec 12, 2014 14:48:59	The point of concentration being based on Constitution is that it is a unifying point among all spellcasters, and is intentionally not the "strong stat" of the classes so that DCs do not have to be inflated in order to pose significant risk of failing.   As for your adjustment to the DC, I need to be sure I am understanding:   Assuming a scenario in which a spellcaster is concentrating on a haste spell and is hit for 40 damage, are you saying that the DC of the save to keep concentration would be 15 (12 + spell level of 3) rather than 20 (higher of 10, or 40/2)?   If yes, I suggest not doing that because it will make what should be easy saves significantly harder, and removes the intentionally added situations in which it is impossible to maintain concentration by creating a maximum DC on the high end.
