| #1WrylisAug 15, 2014 12:06:03 | When playing an unarmed Monk, is "Unarmed Strike" an action requiring a single attack roll for 1d4 damage, or are you considered to be dual wielding your fists, allowed to make 2 attacks at 1d4 each?
I am aware of the bonus action allowing a free Unarmed attack, but for some reason even 2d4 + dex seems like weak damage output even at low levels. |

| #3WrylisAug 15, 2014 12:18:54 | So if you're unarmed do you get two unarmed attacks plus the bonus action (3d4+Dex)? |
| #4ShermanAug 15, 2014 12:19:18 | Right, a monk isn't supposed to be a very good fighter with just their fists, at least not at low levels. Weapons are useful for them just like everyone else in the game. |

Your unarmed attack as a bonus action after, say, a strike with your quarterstaff (bo staff) could just as equally be flavored as a foot to the face or a knee to the groin. |

| #14Thank_DogAug 17, 2014 2:15:42 | I need some clarification on this. Is the following correct?
Monk wielding a quarterstaff. Attacks with QS using both hands so 1d8. As a monk weapon it can use Dex for attack and damage so 1d8+Dex. Then you can attack with a bonus action using an unarmed strike for 1d4+Dex. If you use Ki, you can make a Flurry of Blows, thus doing 1d8+Dex with the QS and then two additional unarmed attacks for 1d4+Dex each.

| #17Thank_DogAug 17, 2014 5:52:36 | Cool. That's actually pretty bad-ass. Average 18.5 damage (assuming 2nd-level & Dex 16) if all attacks hit on a FoB. Three chances to miss of course but that also means three chances to crit |
| #18shivafangAug 17, 2014 6:59:48 | I can't find any rule that says you can duel wield unarmed strike if you are not a monk. Unarmed strike does not have the light property on the weapon's table.
I think that's silly, though. I'd allow unarmed strikes to be a light weapon and thus qualify for the 'two-weapon fighting' rules.
