The monk strikes give them better damage with hand to hand combat. (1d4 & up). The tavern brawler feat gives a 1d4 as well. Question is if a monk takes the tavern brawler feat what would the monk receive? - An extra 1d4 on top of the current ? - Raise the strike up one die, say from a 1d4 to a 1d6? -Or D none of the above. I would say raise it to the next die. Thanks for the help.

As written, D: None of the above.

Two features, like Tavern Brawler and Martial Arts, that say what they set a value to (d4 damage) never become additive.

Feel free to rule differently if you'd like to, but this is what the rules in the book specifically say.

A monk gets the d4 benefit of Tavern Brawler as part of his class features.  What else in the feat makes you want to take it?  (Away from rulebook, don't have it memorized either.)

The d4 will be obsolete when your Martial Arts (and Flurry of Blows) dice become d6.
