#1 cromulent_m Jul 09, 2015 20:12:54	The Monk's Way of Shadow sub-class allows a character to "... use your ki lo duplicate the effects of certain spells. As an action, you can spend 2 ki points to cast darkness, darkvision, pass without trace, or silence, without providing material components."   Darkness, Pass Without Trace and Silence are all concentration spells.   Given the melee nature of the Monk, as well as the Monk is "duplicating the effects" of certain spells via the use of Ki, rather than being a class with "spellcasting" abilities, I am wondering whether or not the damage = concentration break check would also apply.   On one side, I am erring on the side of "yes" as the RAW line says "you spend 2 ki points to cast ..."; coupled with the fact that Monks generally are damage avoiders rather than damage sponges.   On the other, Monk Ki points are very limited at low levels and the melee character player in me wants to give Monks a break though so as to encourage them to be engaged in melee rather than trying to avoid it to ensure that something like Pass Without Trace continues.   What do you folk think?   I am assuming other concentration limitations apply; if you use Ki to duplicate Silence, then Pass Without Trace would end.   Thanks!
