Say I have a level 6 cleric, and I add a level of druid. I can now prepare class level + wis modifier (probably 1+4) spells, which must be of a level I have spellslots for. Normally, a level 1 druid would only have level 1 spellslots, so could only prepare level 1 spells. However, as a level 6 cleric/level 1 druid, using the multiclass spellslot table, I have 1 level 4 spellslot. So I can prepare druid spells of up to level 4. Is this right? It seems a bit powerful. Level 19 druid? take a level in cleric for access to half a dozen of the best cleric spells, of any level. Level 8 cleric/level 2 ranger would get access to level 5 ranger spells, which a pure ranger doesn't get until level 17! This all applies equally to bard/sorcerer/paladin just as effectively as cleric/druid/ranger. Hell, if you aren't worried about casting attribute, you could have a high level caster pick up a single level of any other caster class to cherry pick high level spells. Warlock is the only caster class this doesn't work with. |

You prepare/know spells for each class individually. You get slots for both combined.
So a wizard 3/cleric 3/bard 3 would not have fireball or raise dead. |
