#1 paulstrait Aug 28, 2015 8:52:21	I'm sure this has come up before but I'm looking for a clear answer & explanation.  Suppose a character is a multiclassed warlock/wizard.  That character can use its Pact Magic spell slots to cast a spell that it has prepared as a wizard.  When this happens, is that spell considered a "warlock spell" for the purposes of determining whether a bonus to attack rolls and saving throw DCs conferred by a Rod of the Pact Keeper applies?  Does it make a difference if the spell is on the warlock spell list?   It seems like there are three possibilities:   a) Any spell cast through a Pact Magic spell slot is a warlock spell.   b) Any spell cast through a Pact Magic spell slot that is listed on p. 210 of the PHB as a "warlock spell" is a warlock spell.   c) A spell is only a warlock spell if it is directly gained through the warlock class (so, e.g., a warlock 5 / wizard 5 would know exactly 6 spells [and 3 cantrips] that would qualify for the Rod of the Pact Keeper attack roll bonus, regardless of whether any other spells known are on the warlock spell list).    My thinking is that (c) is the right answer, because of the line on p. 164 of the PHB that "Each spell you know and prepare is associated with one of your classes," which seems to indicate that regardless of how many class spell lists a spell appears on, every spell a particular multiclassed character knows is associated with exactly one class.  This interpretation seems like it would resolve ambiguity about which spellcasting ability to use if more than one applied.  The section on pact magic on page 165 also seems to distinguish between using warlock spell slots to cast non-warlock spells and warlock spells. On the other hand, 'warlock spell' doesn't seem to be a term-of-art and the spell list on p. 210 seems to use the term to define a category of spells that are in principle knowable by a warlock.  But on balance, that doesn't seem like an especially convincing argument to me.  Am I missing something?  Is my thinking in line with community consensus?
#2 mellored Aug 28, 2015 9:00:20	C: Warlock spells are gained though a warlock class.   Any spell slot can be used to power any spell, but each spell is for each class.
