I've become interested in making a melee style sorceror and have decided that at level 2 I want to begin multiclassing into Barbarian to reflect this with my character. My Sorceror has Draconic Bloodline, so he has the 13 + Dex Mod for his AC instead of the normal 10+ Dex Mod due to Draconic Resilience.
If I give him a level in Barbarian, how will I set up AC since he will also have Unarmored Defense? A barbarian on his own is 10 +Dex Mod + Con Mod. so if I have Draconic Bloodline would it be 13 + Dex Mod + Con Mod? Or would it be the highest of the two?
Any clear cut answer on this would be awesome, thanks! |

| #3Huntsman57Sep 20, 2014 13:24:43 | I don't know this with complete certainty, but I'm pretty sure the Draconic Bloodline doesn't stack with unarmored defense any more than Mage Armor does. |
| #4sadnewtSep 20, 2014 14:07:07 | I think it does, in the rules on multicasting, it only says that you can't have two untainted defense features. It doesn't say anything about a heightened base AC from other sources, and after all, you still aren't wearing armor. |
| #5SorxoresSep 20, 2014 14:12:51 | highest of the two, the rule do specify that if you have 2 different formula to calculate your AC you take the formula of your choice (AKA the highest one) I don't have my book to quote it exactly, but I'm sure if you search for it you can find it. |
| #6AshrymSep 20, 2014 14:17:33 | Unarmored Defense: While you are not wearing any armor, your Armor Class equals 10 + your Dexterity modifier + your Constitution modifier. You can use a shield and still gain this benefit.
Draconic Resilience: Additionally, parts of your skin are covered by a thin sheen of dragon-like scales. When you aren't wearing armor, your AC equals 13 + your Dexterity modifier.
Neither ability adds a bonus -- they both change the base calculation to determine armor class. The player should be using which ever is higher as the resulting AC.
