Howdy, all.
I'm new to these types of games, and I'm DM'ing my first adventure! As a matter of fact, besides me there are 6 players and it's all of our first time, woohoo!
When we were creating characters, I ran into a bit of confusion regarding "known" spells, as the title of the thread may suggest. Specifically, my confusion stems from Druids (we have two druids in the group) and how learning spells works. So - and I know you probably already know the rules fairly well or you wouldn't be reading this - I understand that some (most?) spellcasters learn their spells based on level, and I am pretty sure I understand how spell level works.
I love the convenient tables that say spells known, slots, etc. However, the druid table does not have a "spells known" for each level entry in the table, so I had to do some poking around in the book.
My research leads me to two potential conclusions, both of which I am fairly certain are incorrect:
2) Druids are capable of "knowing" all of their spells, casting is dependent on available spell slots and preparation, and circle of the land just grants some perma-prepares
Sorry for the lengthy post, and even then I feel I didn't describe my confusion enough, but that's what replies are for!

They can prepare any spell that is on the druid list, and can prepare up to (wis bonus + druid level) spells. So, anything on the druid list is fair game. The circle of the land spells are extra, are always prepared, and don't count against the number of spells a druid can prepare. |
