New official rules clarifications! Some big ones here:

  • Help action works with an owl familiar's flyby.
  • Archery Fighting Style doesn't work with (melee) thrown weapons.
  • Monks can use quarterstaves with two hands.
  • Sentinel triggers after an attack, not before.
  • Goodberry works with Disciple of Life!

If combatants can change their place in the initiative order at will, why use initiative at all?

Cycer-Dave,

I'm sorry but I can't take it anymore, what the hell is behind your head in your icon/avatar? Though I know it is something behind you every time I glance at it i think it is some giant funky hat your wearing like a fortune teller or something.

Wow... Goodberry/cleric is now a *beast* of a spell.

1st level, heal 40hp, can dish them out as needed in 4HP allotments.  Can hold on to any 'extras'.  Yowza!

About the equivalent healing as creating 7 Healing Potions.  The only drawback is you can only eat one per action.

Can a ranger move between the attack rolls of the Whirlwind Attack feature? No.

In my game, I force players to Delay when their turn comes-up and they take more than 5 seconds to state their action. THAT had sped-up gameplay more than any mechanical restriction. When the player is ready they can go after the current player (or DM) has completed their turn and that is their new place in the initiative order. If they cast a spell where timing might be significant, we write-down the initiative number at the time the spell is cast and use that to determine when it expires. This means a spell might actually expire before the end of your next turn if you are forced to Delay.

The Goodberry ruling is crazy OP. I play it, like many other DMs I know, that you just create 3 more 1hp Goodberries -- not Goodberries 4 TIMES more effective.

The goodberry thing is nothing new, we got that from twitter a long time ago.  I personally don't understand why it would even work since the spell doesn't do any healing and instead creates something you have to then use to get healing.  I suppose it sets a precedent that if you use a conjuration spell or whatever goodberry is, that your bonuses like the one from Disciple of Life do in fact apply to the effects of whatever you conjured.

On spellcasting, it stated "If I'm a cleric/druid with the Disciple of Life feature..."

I don't have the PHB with me now, but does the druid have Disciple of Life feature?

I think you need to be multiclassing cleric/druid to even get that benefit. Only cleric can be disciple of life and only druid can learn goodberry.

Life Clerics could take Magic Initiate for it. Not sure how worth it it would be though.

I can care less what JC says. 40 HP in healing for a 1st-level spell slot is not gonna happen at any table I DM. When an option becomes leaps and bounds above any else, it's no longer an option.

I'm keeping mine to 3 more berries, or the 3 extra HP distributed among 1-3 of the berries. Anything else is just asking for trouble if you ask me.

reading the whirlwind attack, it does not say you only get to hit each opponent once, it could be interpreted that you get to make as many attacks as you want within 5 feet of you.

So if Disciple of Life heals for each berry, would Blessed Healer heal for each target of a Mass Cure Wounds?

I'm not fond of the goodberry/Disciple of Life ruling. Goodberry is already a great out of combat healing spell as you can dump all of your spell slots the night before and create dozens and dozens of berries and then get all of your slots back in the morning. It's basically free healing. Now it's basically free healing x4.

Not to mention that means you didn't use those spell slots during the day to help the party.

That'd be "a attack for [targets]".

"A attack against [targets]" means you have targets, all of whom are included in the attack. "A attack for [targets]" means you have targets, each of whom you make an attack against.
