| #1daedelSep 07, 2014 11:20:54 | I know that probably the answer is going to be "wait to the DMG" but are there any rules to create NPC's? I see that they are similar to PC's but without classes. For example, in the DM basic document there's one "acolyte" that resembles a 1st level Cleric, but doesn't have all features from them. |
| #2DireachSep 07, 2014 13:35:46 | You can get a pretty good idea of how to build an NPC from reading the monster section of the Basic Rules DMG. Hit points are tied to creature size and Constitution, AC is 10 + whatever armour they're wearing, Challenge Rating determines their proficiency bonus, the rest is not much different from a regular player. There are also plenty of examples to reverse engineer or tinker with.
It wouldn't surprise me if many NPC's were simplified to whatever their main role is, like the "Acolyte" you mentioned. Significant NPCs could be built like players, if you wanted to. |
