| #2NovacatNov 02, 2014 14:12:24 | Verify your DM's opinion, but for me, printed material trumps online material. |
| #3jonathonhawkeNov 02, 2014 15:28:22 | The Monster Manual lists owls has having "Keen Hearing and Sight" |

| #5BRJNNov 03, 2014 9:33:51 | I would use the most recent print date, were I your DM.
For very similar reasons to this, I encourage players to manually type their character's information into a text file of some sort. It is amazing what you discover when you actually have to read the rules word-by-word. |
| #6IllithidbixNov 03, 2014 11:18:37 | I'd go by the MM and updated DM basic guide.
Also as a side note, online material is actually updated quicker than printed material, so is probably more accurate.
The updated Basic rules already contain a correction that was missed from the PHB. (reference to always regaining at least 1 hitdice with a long rest, before it meant level 1 characters couldn't technically ever regain theres...)
And anyone who tries to argue that owls don't have keen hearing will be punched in the Richard by rampant ornithologists. |
| #7TimboramaNov 03, 2014 13:23:22 | Monster Manual for Monsters. MM>PHB for the stats of an Owl. If the MM had a spell that was different from the PHB, I'd use PHB |

Nature found a way.

Except for mice and shrews. And Simon Cowell... |

Trivia: In the equipment chapter under Coinage the PHB says that 1 sp will pay for the daily wage of an unskilled laborer, while the Lifestyle Expenses and Services portions of the chapter would hint that it should be 2 sp for a day's wage. The Basic pdf removed the 1 sp as the day's wage of a laborer phrase, thus eliminating the contradiction and supporting the 2 sp day's wage estimation. (Note that there is still some confusion regarding the day's wage for a "skilled" professional, as Coinage gives it at 1 gp (for skilled, but non-exceptional), while Services gives it at 2 gp (for skilled). Lifestyle Expenses provide a solution, as Modest lifestyle is 1 gp while Comfortable is 2 gp, and both of them are described as lifestyles appropriate for skilled characters. Apparently Services is assuming that you are hiring the more skilled hirelings, while Coinage says they won't all have it that good.)
