As you're talking about cantrips, though, it might be silly to have picked the same cantrip for both Wizard and Warlock. #6 Eric888 Sep 01, 2014 10:10:24	Spells do not have a specific stat tied to them. They simply say "your spellcasting ability modifier." Some things, like eladrin, gnome, and the feats, say "use intelligence as your spellcasting ability for this cantrip." Since Pact of the Tome does not, it is merely adding those spells to your character's list of spells, so they would use charisma.
#7 Kalani Sep 01, 2014 11:34:11	When casting cantrips, you use the spellcasting ability modifier appropriate to the class you gained the spell from.   A multiclass Wizard/Warlock who chooses Poison Spray as a Warlock cantrip, casts that spell using their Charisma Modifier, even if their Intelligence modifier is higher. If they chose Poison Spray as a wizard cantrip, they use their Intelligence modifier instead.   Keep track of spells known, spells prepared and spellcasting ability modifiers of each of your spells separately. A mc Wizard/Warlock has two spell lists. They do not combine said spell lists, although they cast all spells using the same spell slots.
#8 Illithidbix Sep 01, 2014 13:53:13	As others have noted. Spells never specify which ability modifier to use for attack rolls and DC's, it's based on the class that grants the spell. And since you're getting the three cantrips through a Warlock class ability, then it comes off the Warlock's Ability, so Charisma.   If you got it through a feat or multiclassing then the situation may be different. All the relevent feats (Magic Initate, Ritual Caster and Spell Sniper) describe how you determine spellcasting ability. It's based upon which list you picked the spell from.
#9 BW0222 Sep 01, 2014 21:46:03	They are cantrips. You already have eldrich blast, so the few which might to extra damage or a slightly higher DC or something would be extremely minor. I would say you use your Cha just to avoid trying to track each DC or bonus manually. I doubt it matters if someone casts sacred flame at 3rd-level using a DC 11, vs. DC 8, for half of a 1d8. Presumably most warlocks will be taking non-save/offensive spells such as light, shillelagh, spare the dying, druid craft, message, dancing lights, etc. Within a few levels it is kind of pointless to worry about.
