I am going between the DMG and PHB trying to interpret the rules on poisons, specifically involving dosage and duration - The rules are clear in the basic poison listed in the PHB, but my question is regarding the other poisons listed in the DMG.    They are listed as one dose, but how long is the potency of these poisons, and how far does a dose go?  Does 1 dose mean one use, or can it be applied to 1 blade or 3 pieces of ammo and last the minute? (re; injury applied poisons)    The rules aren't clear and quite contradictary from book to book and I can find no official rules.    I would imagine the ingested poisons or skin contact poisons are 1 dose = 1 use, but does it have a limit on its potency duration?
