#1 Sword_of_Spirit Dec 24, 2014 15:15:00	The best that I can tell is that it's a straight d4 without your ability modifier added. When I compare it to the Dual-Wielder feat it seems like it is relatively balanced that way, and that letting you add your ability modifier would make Polearm Master too good.   However, I have a player who wants to use it with his fighter, and I'm bending the rules a bit by saying that if he takes the Two-Weapon Fighting Style he can apply his modifier to the d4 from Polearm Master.   Is this a good idea? How would would you rule it?
#2 Novacat Dec 24, 2014 15:46:43	Polearm Master's bonus Attack is completely different from the bonus Attack from weilding two weapons. The Polearm Master attack allows you to add your ability modifier to damage, because that is the normal rule for weapon attacks, and it doesn't specify otherwise. However, wielding a Polearm does not allow you to gain the benefits of the two-weapon fighting style, because it's only one weapon.
#3 CariadocThorne Dec 24, 2014 23:58:43	As Novacat says, it is not two weapon fighting, and neither the twf penalties, nor the twf fighting style apply. If this seems illogical, remember that twf represents someone swinging a weapon completely with their weaker hand. Polearm master is holding a weapon with both hands, and using both ends of it.
