~Question about Experience, do we divide the total Exp between the number of characters? I don't see it in the DMG

you do divide between participants. it is there somewhere.

I am not sure how you could see it in the DMG considering it will not be out until December.  

 

But yes you figure out the total XP for the encounter and divide that among the PCs.

So don't say it does if it is not written in the DMG Basic

Doesn't appear to specify in the DM basic PDF. Possibly because it only really touches on encounter building, not rewards.

 

However, the playtest which used a very similar system (and XP numbers) specified: 

"they divide the total XP value of the encounter evenly among them."

 

If you don't divide it then it only requires six goblins or three orcs to be defeated for a party of any size to get 300XP and so level up to level 2.

 

Which I suspect isn't the intention.

 

But I tend to play and DM with "Level up when the DM says so", so upto you and your players.
