#1 Kythras Sep 28, 2014 6:08:41	Under the Pact of the Blade ability for Warlocks it clearly states "You can choose the form that this melee weapon takes each time you create it". It then also states "You can transform one magic weapon into your pact weapon by performing a special ritual..." Would the interpretation that you can then summon a pact weapon obtained through this ritual in whatever form you want with it retaining any magical enhancements, thus be valid? "Your pact weapon can take any form you want it to. Performing the ritual turns a magic item into your pact weapon. Thus you can have that magic item take any form you want. QED." It's a minor quibble, but I like the potential for versatility, plus it gives a tiny boost to what is generally considered the weakest of the Pact Boons.
#2 AaronOfBarbaria Sep 28, 2014 6:51:01	No - the ability to make your pact weapon any weapon that you want it to be, and the ability to make a magic weapon that you find function as your pact weapon are two separate details.   The reason for including the magic weapon clause is so that you are not "punished" for being a blade pact warlock by having your pact weapon feature become irrelevant because you found a cool magical weapon you want to use - not so that you can turn a found magical weapon into an impossible weapon (such as a vorpal hammer).
#3 dwgautier Sep 28, 2014 6:53:44	As a DM I would rule that if you 'bond' a magic weapon as your pact blade it does not change to any type of weapon you want.  They added that part in so that a pact blade warlock wouldnt be hosed if they wanted to use a magic weapon instead of their pact blade.  Remeber you only get the extra attack from the invocation if you are attacking with the pact blade.     What is still cool about it is that you are AUTO proficent with any magic weapon you bind as your pact blade.  Kinda a neat thing to be able to do.
