Question about spells

I have noticed that some spells do not have a magic saving throw (example magic missile).

Does this mean that the spell will always hit and make damage?, it does not seem that the AC matters to this kind of spells

Thanks

Generally spells without a saving throw or attack roll have some other limitation.  For example Sleep has no saving throw or attack roll, but it is limited by the HP of the creatures you're targeting.    Magic Missile is kind of weird because it has neither and no apparent drawback(it's great when a creature is right on top of you too because there is no disadvantage to roll to attack).  But there is actually another spell that specifically counters Magic Missile called Shield.  It just outright negates the effect of Magic Missile.
